As a young boy, Devon Fagan was obsessed with books, and how the written word can inspire and provoke emotion.
I honestly never saw myself committing to such a big project. Like most things in life, I sort of just fell into this,” said Fagan, a senior at Altoona Area High School.
For a year and a half, Fagan worked tirelessly to write his novel "The Otherside of Atlas."
He stayed up writing until 3 a.m. to finish his project — a young adult novel about the trials teenagers face in the world of social media.
This was my way of shedding light on the real issues that teens my age face, said Fagan, explaining it's hard for teenagers to be bombarded with social media images of people living perfect lives.
You rarely see people post the negative parts of their day.
Just pictures of them traveling or out with friends, he said.
When this is all you're seeing from everyone else, you can begin to feel like you're getting left behind while everyone around you is happy, Fagan explained.
The resounding theme of 'The Otherside of Atlas," Fagan said, is people’s lives aren't perfect; everybody is fighting a battle.
Now to throw some water on the subject, most teenagers do not read books, if they are spending a deal of time on their 'smart-phones'.
Which brings this old man, doing a great deal of time reading books.

Who's going to pay for the wall?
And the crowd responded in unison.
And then the crowd shouted, at the tops of their lungs.
You said Mexico was going to PAY
