This Texas mess is classic GOP opposition to Federal regulatory controls.
During the Reagan years, deregulation created the S&L recession. The Federal government had to step in with bailout funds. The deregulation endeavors during the Bush2 years gave the USA the great recession. The Federal government had to step in and bailout corporate America executives with $mega-trillions of relief funding.
The classic GOP prevention and solution to recessions is "Cut the food stamp program".
